Time to rethink?

As the rain continues, travelling in the Kruger Park is becoming difficult with many dirt roads closed and a couple of the main routes becoming impassable. Change of plan required as even the cross-border route to Mozambique at Giriyondo is closed. Decided to head out of the park and head south so we can cross over at the Komatipoort border post. If the weather clears we may have another day or two in the southern section of the park, otherwise the beaches of Moz are calling.

After we packed up and checked out of our bungalow at Mopani this morning we discovered that the overnight rains had closed all the access routes and that along with the other guests, we are stuck here for a while. Fortunately this camp is on a hill and has stayed dry, but the ones north of us are completely flooded and the staff are being evacuated from the roof tops by helicopter.

I can think of worse places to be stranded!  In fact the road opened up again this afternoon so we could get on the road as planned - amazing to see Cheetah and Lion on the road side as we drove out of the Park.
